I Am A Builder

My ward decided to steal my friend Michelle's idea for a primary activity and we are using the theme, "I Am A Builder" click the link to see her activity in all its glory. http://thehiltonlife.blogspot.com/2009/10/i-am-builder.html
I built a model for the kids to make popsicle stick towers a la King Benjamin (from the Book of Mormon) and I think it turned our pretty good for being made solely of popsicle sticks, glue, and twine:

Blech Day

The bad part of the day really started last night when Grace got a sore throat and a fever. I didn't realize this would adversely impact me until late last night when I remembered about girls' night tonight. Crud. I am missing girl's night tonight (shopping and dinner-kid free) because Grace is too sick to go to school and a babysitter's but not sick enough to be entertained solely by television and naps on the couch.

Needless to say I am not in the best of moods today. Hearing 'I'm bored!' by my two children who can talk and sensing it from #3 is not my favorite thing.

p.s. grace took the picture of the flower at red butte garden

Leaves...Ugh

Raking leaves is the least rewarding job I have ever had. I just spent an hour raking and shoving leaves into giant orange bags and the only sign that any work was done is that two giant orange bags are sitting on my curb. Maybe it's because it's a little windy today so more leaves are falling off the trees, but I think the real reason is that raking doesn't really work. Stupid leaves.

I retract my statement about loving fall.

My New Threat

Sadly, most of my motivational tools involve some sort of threat. This year I discovered a new one: If you don't do (insert task here) I'll take away a piece of your Halloween candy. Works like a charm. I think it may even last until I can start the, "If you don't behave Santa won't bring you any presents" threat.

Halloween Has Come and Gone

This year we were "The Incredibles". As you can see, Noah really beefed up for his role.

Primary is THE Best

I love my calling in Primary (sunday school for the kids 4-12). The kids are so cute (mostly) and they say hilarious things like the following two quotes from today:

MJ: Who knows what a hymn is?
Savannah: It's a boy!
***
Me: Dylan, what happened to your eye?
Dylan's dad: He fell on a softball
Dylan: No, it was a hardball
